Sling Media is a digital lifestyle products company, focused on creating empowering entertainment experiences for consumers.  Sling Media’s award winning Slingbox turns any Internet-connected PC, Mac, or mobile device into your home television allowing you to watch your TV virtually anywhere in the world.  The Sling Entertainment Group is a division of Sling Media and will deliver new applications and services enabled by the Slingbox’s marriage of familiar TV programming and richly interactive web-connected devices.

Responsibilities:

Product Developers work with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs and technology directions into product definitions.  As a Product Developer for Sling Media Entertainment you will be accountable for multi-platform products throughout its life cycle including:

  • idea generation,
  • gathering requirements,
  • developing business and user cases,
  • drafting functional specifications,
  • concept development and testing, and
  • working directly with Producers, Designers and Technologists to execute the product vision and iterate to meet the end-user’s needs.

As a Product Developer focused on Social Tools you will be responsible for understanding and executing against the rapidly changing trends in social networks, specifically:

  • community
  • blogging
  • real-time communications
  • feeds
  • embeddable widgets (and other sources of viral distribution)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of product design or product management experience (must provide functioning examples)
  • Experience gathering requirements and translating them into a product vision and documentation
  • A solid understanding of User Centered Design philosophies and the Agile development process
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills - must be able to successfully interface with a variety of departments – Editorial, Marketing, Research, Engineering, etc.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative reporting data & qualitative research data to inform future product iterations
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Deep understanding of the online video and community space
